A few more reviews are trickling in...
Catered Thanksgiving by Isis Crawford
Didn't like this. Dull, cliche-ridden character, thin and poorly formed
Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris
Didn't like it as much as the other Sookie Stackhouse stories. Seemed somewhat long and dragged out. Still worth reading tho.
Dead Man's Island by Carolyn Hart
Great mystery offering! Exciting. Best of the Henrie O series.
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
The book was deep, dark and created a vivid story between a boy and his father trying to survive post apocalypse. There's hope and purity mixed with the evil that presents itself when all else is gone in the world. Great book! Parallels the movie closely.
A Bitter-Sweet Season by Jane Gross
I found this book to be very helpful.
The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan
Interesting format. It's a good idea for a book, however it doesn't seem to be finished.
The Daughter's Walk by Jane Kirkpatrick
The Daughter's Walk begins with a mother and daughter walking across the country in the late 1800's in hopes of saving their farm. The story spans many decades as the daughter seeks financial independence. I found the story to be sad in parts and enlightening in others, and just plain fascinating as it is based on a read woman's story (life).
The Lost Gate by Orson Scott Card
Funny, interesting, but he left a lot unanswered at the end, enough for a sequel. Hero is a young teenage male so this would be a good recommendation for teen readers.
Music of the Distant Stars by Alys Clare
Very Well Done! Ms. Clare brings the people and events of ancient Egypt to life. Gripping murder mystery.
A Heart Most Worthy by Siri Mitchell
Good story about 3 young Italian immigrant girls and their families. Showcases the prejudices that existed against Italians in the early 1900's Well written with both suspense and romance.
Fire in Ember by Diann Mills
The sequel to A Woman Named Sage. Very good story about the Timmons family and 'Bert" the boy John Timmons rescued from a hanging.
Thornyhold by Mary Stewart
Amusing sentimental tale.
Letter from Home by Carolyn Hart
Excellent story! Riveting colorful portrait of a small town during World War II and the murder mystery that changed the lives of 2 young girls forever. If you enjoy mysteries, get this one!
The Corpse Wore Tartan by Kaitlyn Dunnett
Fun mystery. Villains are totally villainous with no redeeming features. Interesting bits of Scottish folklore.
