I love frogs and listening to frogs at night. So here is one of my favorite frog poems.
"The Great Frog Race"
We used flashlights one night
to find them in the damp and secret
places in the garden.
We put the frogs in a cardboard box
and wet down the driveway.
The garden hose was the finish line.
One by one, we lined up the frogs.
(It wasn't easy.)
We yelled: Ready- Set- Go!
Seventeen frogs leaped in all directions,
croaking. Blurk. Blurk. Blurk.
The Great Frog Race was over quickly.
One by one,
all contestants hopped off
into the moonlight.

Borderland Reads - Summer 2007
The title for the next Borderland Reads is "Code Talker" by Joseph Bruchac. This book while a novel recounts the story of the Navajos during World War II and their very important mission to serve as code talkers using their language in code to transmit messages that the Japanese couldn't break.
The title is appropriate for families to read together, especially for children in upper elementary and above. The library will hold a discussion of the book on Tuesday, August 7th at 7:00 p.m. in the library meeting room.
The Friends of the Library have purchased 25 copies of the book and they are available for checkout now. Spend some time this summer reading this wonderful book and discussing it with family, friends and strangers.

Poetry Friday
The weather has been wild and so to celebrate here is simple poem about stormy weather.
Storm
In a storm,
the wind talks
with its mouth open.
It yells around corners
with its eyes shut.
It bumps into itself
and falls over a roof
and whispers
OH...oh...oh...
